On March 18, 1958, the Winslow city council agreed to let the Winslow Renegades Drag Club use the airport’s access road and taxi strip as a drag strip. Races were held on the 5,700-foot track on May 17, 1959, with Duane Miller managing. In 1959 they generally ran on the third Sunday of the month. Winslow hosted the Northern Arizona Championship drag races on May 7-8, 1960.
