Newspapers advertised a drag race on June 2, 1957, on Highway 25, eighteen miles south of Augusta, run by the C.S.R.A. Timing Association. Photos from 1959 races show it ran on an airfield, almost certainly today’s Burke County Airport just south of town. Its years and history beyond that aren’t known.
