The Van Wert Police Athletic League sponsored a Drag-Jamboree on Saturday, June 26, 1965, at the airport in the southwest part of the city, with proceeds going to equipment for PAL football and baseball teams. Admission was $1.25 and competing cars paid $1. Trophies went to class and eliminator winners. Cecil Darnell’s jet dragster, the Red Demon, was set to make three exhibition runs against his other jet dragster, probably the Magnum 500.
