The Valley Timing Association (VTA) ran weekly quarter-mile races at the New Jerusalem Air Field, an old World War II auxiliary field seven miles southeast of Tracy. The first race was on December 24, 1950. To keep the peace with farmers who owned the neighboring land and didn’t like the racing, only VTA members could race. Don Jensen raced here in 1950. The VTA stopped racing at Tracy in October 1951, expecting a new strip, Kingdon, to open near Lodi.
