By 1998 at the latest, drag races were running on the front straight of Tioga Speedway, the old Shangri-La Speedway. Runs were timed over about a sixteenth of a mile, starting at the exit of turn four and finishing at the old start-finish line about three-quarters of the way down the front stretch. The shutdown came up fast through turn one, and the best times on that tight layout were around 4.5 seconds. The oval ran from 1992 to 2005 and became Tioga Motorsports Park in 2001. Drag racing went on through at least 2002. Gravel mining has since erased every trace of the track.
