Background
Billy Meyer, who drove funny cars before he built tracks, opened the Motorplex in Ennis in 1986, about 40 miles south of downtown Dallas. It was the NHRA's first "super track." Every October it hosts the Texas NHRA FallNationals, with more than $2 million on the line for pro and sportsman racers, and winners there include John Force, Kenny Bernstein and Tony Schumacher.
