A drag race ran on a runway at this airport north of Tecumseh on July 14, 1957, and there were probably races before that. One old-timer remembered seeing Art Arfons hit 248 mph there in 1956, and another racer said he raced at the airport, probably in 1952 through 1955. Racing stopped whenever a plane needed to land. It’s now Meyers-Diver’s Airport, with a 2,660-foot asphalt runway.
