Dan Plett filed incorporation papers for Sundown Dragway on February 7, 1985. Races ran on a runway of the old Liberal Army Airfield on the west edge of Liberal, the same site as the closed Five-State Raceway. The track concentrated on bracket racing and was NHRA-sanctioned in at least 1992. The last record found is from 1994, though that may not have been its final year.
