James Birch filed incorporation papers for State Fairgrounds Dragway on May 1, 2002. Eighth-mile races ran through September that year, with racers paying $25 to enter and spectators $6. Aerial photos of the fairgrounds from 2002 show what looks like fresh blacktop running south from the entry gate, very likely the strip. Aerial photos suggest it stayed in use until about 2004.
