Little is documented about this strip beyond aerial photos, YouTube videos and a few news stories. C. J. Collier and Joe A. Camise incorporated Starkville Raceway, Inc. on February 5, 1968, possibly for an oval or a drag strip, but it doesn’t seem to have gone anywhere, and dissolution notices followed between 1971 and 1989. A 2007 aerial photo shows either a dirt strip or construction, more likely construction since 2009 looks about the same. By 2010 there was an entrance, a staging area, a paved strip and a rough shutdown. A 2011 video shows it running. There seems to have been no return road until about 2013-14. On September 6, 2015, a 68-year-old driver was killed hitting a guardrail. The track didn’t run in 2020-21 because of Covid-19 and restarted in 2022.
