On Saturday afternoon, May 31, 1958, the Sportsdrome oval tried out a drag racing program, with trophies in four classes: gas, stock, super stock and sports cars. Bob Miller won top eliminator in his Corvette. On June 14 James Robertson won super stock and overall top eliminator. The drag races lasted only a few weeks.
