No one has pinned down where this strip was yet.

The Sal-Ka Plugs Timing Association held drag races on a blacktopped private road in the Camp Phillips area, a mile west of Smolan, which the Morrison Grain Company let them use. The first race was on May 23, 1954. Early in 1955 the association bought a timer for the season and planned to race every Sunday once a timing tower was built. In March 1956 the club asked the Salina City Commission for money to resurface the road. The commission said the road was too far outside the city to fund, and that it couldn’t think of anywhere inside the city limits for the club to race, so the club kept racing on the old road.
