History

This eighth-mile strip is southeast of Kelowna, just off Highway 33 between the Big White turnoff and Jewel Lake, reached from the Okanagan Falls Forest Service Road on the north side of the highway. Its first race, a two-day event on October 9-10, 1982, drew 90 entries and about 1,000 spectators, when the track was called Siemalt Speedway. Bill Brush set a track record of 5.99 in his alcohol dragster. By 1983 the track ran under AHRA sanction, and on July 24, 1983, Neil Kenney set an AHRA eighth-mile national record for B trucks. Volunteers did much of the work keeping up the strip. The 2020 season was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
