The Navy ran the Naval Ammunition Depot from 1944 to 1947 to make, store, test and destroy bombs, explosives, ammunition and rocket motors. The site is now Highland Industrial Park, home to defense contractors. In 1962 the Brown Engineering Company let the Camden Car Club hold drag races on the grounds, at what newspapers called the NAD drag strip. At the first race, on September 30, 1962, dragsters neared 150 mph, and class winners got trophies. Beyond a little about this one race, nothing has been found.
