When this eighth-mile strip opened hasn’t been found, but it shows on a 1972 topo map, so it was probably there earlier. Races ran on Friday nights in 1975 and 1976, including one on May 9, 1975. On July 30, 1976, Stan Ewing of Cullman won super stock with a 7.05 in his Camaro Z28. On August 23, 2003, Phillip Owens, who had owned the dragway for more than four years, was killed at his own track when his dragster ran off the end of the strip. Each regular event today starts with a public prayer.
