The Roof Garden Riders Motorcycle Club first had a dirt eighth-mile strip on Route 30 west of Jennerstown. A benefit race there on August 4, 1968, co-sponsored by the Somerset Jaycees, raised $300 for the Somerset Pool and Park Fund. In April 1969 the club bought twenty acres in Stonycreek Township, four miles east of Somerset on Shanksville Road north of Route 31, and built another dirt eighth-mile strip. The first race there was on Sunday, May 4, 1969. On August 10, 1969, it hosted the Pennsylvania State Championship Dirt Drags, where Ron Griffith of Somerset won top eliminator on a 650 BSA. A week later Alex Varner of Somerset took top eliminator on his own 650 BSA. Regular races ran at least through 1974.
