This strip sat northwest of Lexington in the hamlet of Reedy Creek, at or near 1327 Reedy Creek Road, and a drag strip researcher described it as quite popular. On June 7, 1959, Charles Rengar of Yadkinville set a track record of 88.64 mph in his ‘32 Ford roadster. A month later T. E. Jubin of Winston-Salem broke it at 92.84 mph in a ‘59 Pontiac. On November 5, 1961, Gene Lunsford of Stoneville raised the record to 93.5 mph in his ‘61 Pontiac. Promoters paid up to $200 to anyone who broke the track record. Super stock winners also got cash, while everyone else raced for trophies.
