George Holland built this strip five miles southeast of Moorhead in 1959. Under him it was AHRA-sanctioned, with races run by the Red River Timing Association. The Swedish magazine Start & Strip listed it among 325 U.S. drag strips in 1968.

According to the track, Duwayne Engness bought it in 1969, renamed it Interstate Dragways and switched to NHRA. Through the early and mid-’70s he ran only NHRA class cars (Super Comp, Gas and Street), added bracket classes for a few years in the late ’70s, and then went to brackets only. Super Comp ran on a pro tree with racers setting their own handicap, while Pro ET, Heavy Street and Street used a full tree. In 1978 the schedule moved to two-day weekends. Ron Johnson bought the track in 1996 and kept the name and NHRA sanction. Charlie McCann bought it in fall 2010 and renamed it Top End Dragways, and it hosted its first National Open in May 2012. Sandbeck Race Development has owned and run it since May 2018, and a drifting course opened that August with 500 spectators and more than 70 drivers. It still runs under NHRA sanction.
