The Provo Clutchers car club got approval to hold drag races on the east-west runway of Provo Municipal Airport on September 30, 1950. The runway was about 1 1/4 miles long. Spectators had to watch from outside the airport’s perimeter fence. Fifteen cars entered, and Ken Dove was overall winner. As far as anyone can tell, it was the only race held there.
