Halloween Pro Mod Madness

October 30–31, 2026 · Pro Mod / grudge

A Halloween weekend meet combining Pro Mods, jet cars, gassers and bracket racing.

History

This eighth-mile concrete and asphalt strip opened for drag racing around late August 1991. It’s north of Panama City and a few miles east of Fountain, reached by taking State Highway 231 north to Highway 167 in Calhoun County, then Highway 274 for less than a mile to Apache Road and turning south. It had NHRA sanction by 1992 at the latest and IHRA sanction from 1995. Races ran through the 2000 season, and no record of racing after that has turned up until the track was renamed Breakaway Dragway in 2005. As Powerhouse Motorsports Park it fell silent in 2021, and new owners Kevin and Cody McDaniel reopened it as North Florida Motorplex in March 2022.
