History

The Fiorito family built this strip in 1959 on 320 acres, as part of a motorsports complex that also has a 2.25-mile road course. It was 5,000 feet long when new. It was NHRA sanctioned and held a divisional race in 1960. The name changed to Seattle International Raceway in 1969. Its biggest event is the NHRA Northwest Nationals, held since 1987. The Fiorito family put the complex up for sale in 2014.

Background

The track opened in 1960 as Kent Pacific Raceways, became Seattle International Raceways in 1969, and went back to Pacific Raceways when the landowner regained control in 2002. Its road course draws SCCA, SOVREN, ICSCC and WMRRA motorcycle racing, and Jim Bown and Dale Earnhardt won the NASCAR Winston West races held there in 1984 and 1985.
