Capital City Speedway opened in 1961 as a paved 3/8-mile oval. David Melamed bought it in 2002 and renamed it Ottodrome International Speedway. By 2004, and possibly 2002, he had built and was running an eighth-mile drag strip on the south side of the oval. Neighbors complained about noise in 2004. The strip was IHRA sanctioned in 2005. In 2006 the name went back to Capital City Speedway, with Arnie Malcolm managing. After a short break it reopened in 2012 with Todd Gow running the drag strip. It closed in 2015.

Background

Capital City Speedway, about 5 km southwest of Stittsville in Ottawa, combined the drag strip with a 3/8-mile oval. The oval ran five classes, including ACT Late Models, on a May-to-September schedule. The whole facility has been closed since 2015.
