Vincent and Louis Napoliello founded Raceway Park on 308 acres. It has since grown past 500 acres, with two drag strips, three motocross tracks, a 1.3-mile road course, a go-kart track and more. The drag strip opened July 4, 1965. It was also called Madison Township Raceway Park, the name Hot Rod used when it listed the track among NHRA-sanctioned strips in June 1970. Englishtown is home to the Summernationals, one of NHRA’s original seven major events. Early in 2018 the park announced it would no longer hold drag racing, though its other events would continue. Charlie Roberts, the track announcer, produced a radio ad for the match race between Shirley Muldowney and Jungle Jim Liberman.
