History
The Brainerd Optimist drag strip group moved here from its old track in Hixon, Tennessee, where it had raced for seven years. The new track started as a quarter mile but dropped to an eighth mile in 1976 because cars kept getting faster and Chickamauga Creek runs past the end. The creek has flooded the track over and over. Class racing ran through 1981, and bracket racing joined the program in the 1970s. The track runs under IHRA sanction and has had recent upgrades to stay competitive in the Chattanooga market.
