The Idaho state championship drag race moved from Boise’s Gowen Field to a runway at the Mountain Home air base for September 16, 1956, with the Boise Timing Association running it. Races may have continued between 1956 and 1963, but that hasn’t been confirmed. The 1963 season opened on March 17. Around 1979, drag races at the base ran as Tumbleweed Raceway under NHRA sanction.
