On Sunday, May 5, 1968, a city street in the Montgomery Industrial Terminal hosted an NHRA divisional points meet, the first time in NHRA history one was held on a city street. The Montgomery Kiwanis Club sponsored it, and city officials gave permission, closed the street and installed guardrails. Organizers expected 6,000 spectators and more than 300 entries competing for over $5,000. It appears to have been a one-time event.
