This IHRA eighth-mile strip ran for about a decade before shutting down, though one online source says it didn’t open until 2001. It took its name from sitting halfway between Charleston and Florence. After an ownership change in 2007, Midway Dragstrip became Midway Dragway. In 2011 Kevin Gann, Mark Helms and Kevin Cody of Gastonia bought the rundown track hoping to make major improvements and have it ready for limited racing that summer. Whether that happened isn’t known, but the track reopened in 2015 as Midway Motorsports Park.
