The Shackles Hot Rod Club had raced at Midland Air Terminal, ten miles southwest of Midland, in 1954. In 1955 the club moved its races to Midland Airpark, three miles north of town, and held its race there on August 21, 1955, under NHRA sanction. Racers paid $1, spectators 50 cents and pit entry 35 cents. The strip may have run in other years too, since the 1959 NHRA Drag Strip Guide listed it as inactive in Division 4.
