History
This eighth-mile track twelve miles west of Cookeville opened on April 16, 1967, as Middle Tennessee Drag Strip and also went by Buffalo Valley Drag Strip. A $1,000 super stock race on October 27, 1968, drew racers such as Linwood Craft and Hubert Platt. Jimmy Sweet, whose family moved to Jamestown in 1969 when he was ten, remembers watching his father race there. It still runs as Buffalo Valley Dragway under IHRA sanction.
