  • Léopold Raymond, developer and owner (1962-66)

No one has pinned down where this strip was yet.

Léopold Raymond, son of a former mayor of Terrebonne, developed this straight asphalt strip on what is now Raymond Boulevard, across from the old Mascouche Golf Club on Chemin des Anglais. His son Pierre, who was the track announcer at fifteen, said it stood apart from earlier efforts in the province because of its permanent facilities: proper grandstands for the crowds and a restaurant for spectators and racers. He said it ran from 1962 to 1966 and drew drag racers, motorcyclists and stock car drivers who came to test their vehicles on a timed course, and he considers it one of Quebec’s pioneer strips. It also went by Quebec Drag Strip and Piste d’accélération du Québec.
