Tom Cathey, son of the track’s promoter, said the Webspinners car club built this track in 1958. Leroy Cathey owned and ran it through the sixties, and Jim Stinnett became a partner around 1970. A major Super Stock race in May 1969 showed off many of the new factory Hemi Darts and Barracudas. The track was in the small farming town of Loudon and drew racers from Knoxville and Chattanooga. Hot Rod listed it as NHRA sanctioned in June 1969, with Stinnett as track manager. It closed sometime in the 1970s. When TVA built the Tellico Dam, the flooding of the Little Tennessee River wiped out any trace of the strip, which has been underwater since November 29, 1979.
