The Hanover Rod and Kustom Klub held a couple of club events at Lincoln Speedway in 1956. About 500 people came to an inter-club meet on June 10 that mixed stock drag races on the oval’s front stretch with spark plug and tire changing contests. The drags went over well enough that the club held a public drags-only event on July 8, 1956, where Eddie Krumrine came out on top of about forty cars. Races followed once a month for the rest of 1956, ending November 11, when Fred Harman of Silver Run, Maryland, took top honors.

The club opened 1957 on July 7 with Hilly Rife as promoter. News reports placed those races only in Hanover, but racing historian Steve Bubb said they were held at this speedway. Clair Wise of Hanover won top eliminator on August 18 before 800 people. On June 29, 1958, 600 spectators watched 94 cars, and Bernard Arnold of Camp Hill won top eliminator, then won again on July 27. The monthly drags ended after 1958. The dirt speedway opened in 1953 at the foot of the Pigeon Hills, north of Hanover and about two miles southwest of Abbottstown, and its high-banked 3/8-mile clay oval still runs.
