The Legends car club, formed in Altona in 1999, started holding charity drag races at Altona Airport, 1.5 miles southeast of town, in 2003. Many of its cruises and car shows also raised money for good causes. The club held a test and tune at the airport in 2020 but canceled that year’s charity race because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
