In November 1954 the New England Hot Rod Council reportedly got permission to hold drag races at the Laconia Airport.
Background
Laconia Municipal Airport is a one-runway general aviation field on 502 acres, three miles northeast of downtown. It had commuter airline service for a while, but no passenger airline flies there now.
