History

Work on this eighth-mile strip in northern Ontario began in early 2011. It was built in a man-made hollow, with downhill staging lanes, an uphill shutdown and camping on the grounds. It opened under IHRA sanction and raced every weekend and some evenings until noise complaints closed it in 2014. In 2018 Linda Groves and her family, owners of the Barrie Automotive Flea Market, bought the 152-acre site. They promised to cut racing to four to six events a season, engineer ways to reduce the noise, and hold an occasional flea market there. As Bonfield Event Park it became an NHRA member track in July 2021.
