John Gilbert owned this strip 4 1/2 miles west of Lincolnton and advertised races every Sunday. On Sunday, May 10, 1959, the Road Angels car club got rained out at Keener’s Drag Strip in Boger City and moved its races here. Sonny Sipe of Gastonia won top eliminator in his ‘23 T-truck, beating Bubber Hoffman’s ‘58 Chevy. Little else is known.
