The Road Aces, a Baytown car club, put on a benefit drag race for a boy hurt in a diving accident. It was set for August 28, but rain pushed it to September 4, 1955. There was no admission charge, but the club took donations and gave out trophies. The race used a stretch of old Highway 146 northeast of Hogg Island.
