Steve Julian went to this strip in 1958 to watch his cousins race and has written about it. His directions started at the Hickory Regional Airport terminal: go past the runway and several more miles, cross a bridge, and the strip was a mile or two farther on the left. He remembered right. It’s about two miles west of the airport, still visible in aerial photos, on the south side of Airport Rodhiss Road along a street named Old Dragstrip Street. How many years it ran hasn’t been determined.
