Lyman Danneffel bought 41 acres of farmland in Hagar Township from Eugene Kahn specifically to build a concrete quarter-mile drag strip, half a mile north of Twelve Corners. He said his son, Lyman Jr., would run it. Construction was set to start in July, with an opening expected by August 1, 1959. Nothing beyond those plans has turned up, and it’s unclear whether the strip was ever finished or used.
