The Greene County Fair Association sponsored drag races every two weeks in summer 1958 on the dirt horse track at the Carrollton fairgrounds. They ran on Wednesday evenings and gave out eight trophies each time. Tuesday night racing started on August 1, 1961, sponsored by the Conquistadores of Greene County, and in 1962 the Carrollton Jaycees sponsored three Tuesday night races in July, August and September. Racing moved to a new strip built in White Hall, but the Jaycees decided to keep racing at the fairgrounds in 1963 too.
