Starting in 1963, the Green Pine Sportsters Motorcycle Club held weekly Sunday drag races on its new paved eighth-mile south of Williamsport, four miles off Route 15. Neighbors sought an injunction to close it in June 1963 but failed. On July 3, 1963, Deanna Barner won a trophy in her B/G ‘57 Ford, and Will Leitch of Lock Haven won four trophies in five weeks in C Stock with his 1960 Plymouth Ramcharger. In 1965 races ran Saturday evenings, and Jack Sampsel of Lock Haven often won D Gas in his ‘55 Chevy. Little else is known.
