Drag racing historian Bret Kepner said two different promoters got permission to hold drag races on a runway at Amon Carter Field Airport. One early racer remembered only a few races, because the promoter’s checks bounced. NHRA track guides for 1974 list two Division 4 races, one in April and one in August, but it isn’t known whether either one happened. The plans at the time called for both midweek and weekend racing.
