This oval was fifteen miles east of Cincinnati on Tealtown Road near Old State Highway 74. On Sunday, June 21, 1953, it held its first drag strip contest as an extra after the regular oval program, using the first 200 yards of the quarter-mile straightaway beside the oval. The next week over 1,000 fans stayed after the oval races to watch. From August, drags followed the regular races on both Sunday and Wednesday nights, every week for the rest of 1953. The track didn’t plan to keep the drags in 1954, but racer interest brought them back now and then. The first motorcycle drag event, on August 8, 1954, had sixteen riders. On August 15 Skip Andriot won the motorcycle division on a 1945 Harley-Davidson and Paul Grote won the car event in his ‘52 Olds. Wednesday night drag racing returned in 1958.
