The Road Panthers car club ran drag races over a 2/10-mile course on a paved side street near the high school football field in Glen Cove, Long Island, close to the Knott Estate. The Long Island Hot Rod Association sponsored them. Hot Rod covered the racing with an article and photos in its July 1953 issue.
