The Pacers and Satellites car clubs of Bozeman sponsored drag races at Bozeman’s airport, usually on the second Sunday. The July 13, 1958 race was the fourth of that season, and races typically drew about fifty cars. Leo Robbins set the 1958 strip record of 111.89 mph in Stan Hester’s roadster. NHRA sanctioned the races in 1959-60.
