In spring 1957, Al Jenkins was building a 40-foot-wide, 3,500-foot asphalt strip on his property on County Road 217 (Stahl Road), two miles south of Fremont. He planned to use it partly as an airplane landing field and partly as a drag strip, with the Sandusky County Timing Association running races. In 1958 Jenkins talked about adding an east-west landing strip to the north-south one. The drag strip plans don’t seem to have gone anywhere.
