Freedomland U.S.A. was a big American-history theme park in the northeast Bronx. It opened in June 1960, had problems from the start and filed for bankruptcy in mid-September 1964. After it closed, racers took over part of the parking lot for illegal eighth-mile drag races. Gene Terenzio Sr. raced there and remembered grass growing out of the cracks in the pavement. Little else is known.
