This strip was southeast of Fort Worth, and little has been found about it. Roy Melton, who saw races there in 1958, thought it might have opened as early as 1955 or 1956. One racer went to his first drag race at Green Valley in 1960 or 1961, and within a year he was racing at Forest Hills himself, before he even had a driver’s license. Every week he drove his gas coupe with open headers from the Grapevine and South Lake area on Fort Worth’s northeast side, and once he got there he used a bumper jack to swap on cheater slicks. Class winners at the weekly races got trophies. On May 4, 1968, Carrol Louis Muhle, 27, lost control of his car and hit a tree. He died of his injuries in a Fort Worth hospital four days later.
