This strip started as a quarter mile and was cut back to an eighth mile for safety as speeds climbed. It was NHRA sanctioned by 1967 at the latest, racing every Saturday night that year with Kennie Sirk as manager. It may have briefly run 1,000 feet around 1977-78. The shutdown area had a curve, so drivers had to slow down before they reached it. It was a rural spot: one old-timer remembered waiting in time trials while a cow was led off the shutdown area, and deer were a regular problem. Late in its life it was called Fairmont Dragstrip. It closed in October 1999 and sat empty for several years before the city of Fairmont took it over for an industrial park.
