History
John Rempe built this eighth-mile strip on sixty acres eight miles south of Oskaloosa and owned it from its opening until 1993, when he sold it to Carl Moyer of Ankeny. Moyer rebuilt the place completely, with a much bigger pit area and modern amenities. Scott Gardner, owner of Cordova Dragway in Illinois, and Gerald Kramer of Pella bought it in 2006, and Gardner sold his share to Kramer in 2014. It now runs as Eddyville Raceway Park under IHRA sanction. On Sunday, June 12, 1966, Nile Cornelison was booked for three exhibition runs in his “Voo Doo” dragster. On Saturday night, August 3, 1969, a record 161 cars raced before a capacity crowd. Tommy Ivo brought his four-engine dragster in 1982. Fuel driver Tommy Johnson, Jr. started his racing career at Eddyville.
